About Santé

Santé, in historic downtown Matthews, is a fine dining eclectic French-inspired American restaurant focused on serving locally sourced ingredients in our dishes. The menu changes seasonally to reflect what the owners find available at the local Matthew’s Farmers' Market, right across the street.

Santé is housed in a historic building, constructed during the 1880’s, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. The exposed brick walls give Santé the feel of old-world charm that is reminiscent of places like Charleston, Savannah, New Orleans, or Paris. Our intimate dining room is perfect for a romantic dinner or a quiet evening for any gathering.

Santé is named for a toast in French, “À votre santé”, translated to “to your health.” in honor of Chef Adam’s French heritage.

Co-owners Veronica and New York Chef Adam Reed moved from New York City to Matthews in 1997 and opened Santé in 2001.  They are excited to serve the Matthews community and the extended Charlotte area.
